The Frosts: Chapter One

Chapter one: The Gogglents Lisa sat on the concrete porch. She had just had an encounter with Passion Kirpat. Passion was the school fashion consultant. And probably the only one. Srilanka was not really about fashion. But Passion claimed she was from New York and her parents were so rich that she got to live in the ONLY mansion in Srilanka. Everyone wished to be Passions friend JUST to go to her house. But she only had three best friends. Dana, Morla, and Galen. They were all from Srilanka. Especially Galen. But she was Arabic too. Nonetheless, they were all OBSESSED with fashion. And when I say obsessed I mean obsessed. Those shoes this, which skirt that, those pants this. So, your probably have a faint idea of what she’s like. Lisa however, was not even interested in fashion. Her simple outfit was jeans from a billion years ago and a T-shirt that had been bleached and had simply lost its color. Lisa had three sisters, Lara, Taylor, and Beatrice. Lara was 9, Lisa was 11, Taylor was 3, and Beatrice was 14. Lisa had barely taken a breathe when Taylor came rushing in from the kitchen. She had a tutu on and sparkly red shoes that looked like Dorothy had worn them. “Lisaa! You back! Don’t I look beautiful?” Taylor screamed at Lisa. “Let her breathe Tay!” Beatrice said to Taylor. Taylor rushed back inside. Beatrice sat down next to Lisa. “Go away Beatrice…" Lisa said. “Lili, don’t be that way.” Beatrice protested. “Just go away!” Lisa said angrily. Beatrice scowled. After several minutes of silence Lisa stomped into the kitchen. “Hey hun!” Lisa’s mom said. Lisa slumped down into a bright orange armchair that her parents found at an antique store. “We’re going out to dinner for Ethiopian food!” “Who cares? I almost got abused for my pants!” Lisa said enthusiastically. “Oh Lisa, you have to keep away from that awful girl!” Lisa’s mother said. “Lisa! Why weren’t you walking home with me?” Yelled Lara, emerging from her room, which was lined with pink sparkles and butterflies. “I was about to get abused for my pants for Petes sake! Shouldn’t a woman get her rights for that?” Lisa said, sarcastically. “Jeez Lisa, your rights stand where my….hmmm…..ummm……your rights….stand…where my….” She trailed off in the midst of her sentence. “Ya see? She doesn’t even know where my rights stand?” Lisa said, sounding as if she was bragging. “If I even have to go to court to declare where my rights stand, I WILL!” “Ooh! Ooh! I know where Lili’s rights stand!” Taylor said excitingly. “In the middle of a blow pop!” “Tay! Please Tay! You know how much she loves blow pops but not enough to make her rights stand there! Her rights might sit there but not stand!” Beatrice said, making up a reason to join in on the argument. So now all four sisters where fighting. “My rights stand” Lisa broke off in mid sentence because of a loud crash. “CRASH!” Lisa, Lara, Beatrice and Taylor all turned around, very cautiously. “What was that?” Beatrice said. “Where’s Ma?” Lara hesitated but said. “Why are we standing in grass?” Lisa said. “Where’s the toffee I had in my mouth???” Taylor said. “You swallowed it!” Lisa, Beatrice, and Lara said. “Oh….” Said Taylor, sounding like she was almost going to cry. “Whoa!” Lisa said as she disappeared! “Ah!” Beatrice said as she disappeared! One by one the sisters were disappearing! Soon only Taylor was left. “Beatrice…..Beatrice…” Taylor said. “AHHHH!” And with that Taylor disappeared. Taylor opened her eyes, and saw Beatrice, Lisa, and Lara, looking down at her. “Phew! That felt like the vacuum cleaner sucked me up.” Taylor said sarcastically. “WHERE THE HECK ARE WE?!?!?!?” Lisa shouted, louder than she had intended too. “Jeez Lisa, not so loud.” Lara said. “Sorry.” Said Lisa, now whispering. “Ooh!” Taylor said. “These taste good.” “Let me try, I’m starving.” Lara said. “NOBODY IS EATING ANYTHING WITH OUT THE PERMISSION THE OLDEST FROST SISTER!” Beatrice screamed at the others. “Let me try it first.” Beatrice said, calmer now. “Mmm…these do taste good. Quite like M&M’s. Why are they on trees though?” “Oooh! Look! They have a TM in the middle and in smaller writing it says PS.” Lisa pointed out. The little square mushy object with the hard coating on the outside had a print on it. It read: TM Ps “That’s weird….” Lara said, inspecting the square candy carefully. “Those are called Gogglents.” Said rough voice. Lara spun around. “Over here!” The voice said again. Lara spotted the source of the sound. It was Tall skinny boy with light blonde hair and sea green eyes. “I’m Seth, Seth Jeffery Hatten!” “Uhhh….” Lara hesitated. “I’m Lara Melanie Frost…and these are my sisters…” Beatrice was about the same age as Seth. “Hi! I’m Taylor Lexy Frost!” Taylor said. She did a little smile and blushed a light pink. “I’m Lisa Nena Frost.” Lisa said glumly. “Hi I’m Beatrice Erin Frost!” Beatrice said politely. “Nice meeting ya!” Seth said. “Knowing that you don’t know what Gogglents are, you must be new to Personia, Correct?” “Personia?” Lisa said. “First Gogglents, now Personia!” Seth said. “Personia is an island with forest and beach; it’s located in the Pacific Ocean and has portholes that lead to Chicago, New York City, Submarines, Hawaii, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, and Costa Rica.” “SRILANKA!” Lara shrieked. “That’s where we live!’’ Taylor said in excitement. “No wonder you winded up here then.” Seth said. “Here, I have some time off so I can give you a little tour.” Seth said happily. Seth walked forward; the sisters hesitated to walk but did. “This is the island hall!” Seth said, pointing to a big building surrounded by stone on the grass. “Cool!” Lara said, a bit louder and enthusiastic then she intended to say. “Why is it called the ‘Island Hall’? It isn’t a hall.” Taylor said. “A town hall is a building that important stuff that’s goin’ on in the town’s information goes to.” Beatrice informed Taylor. “Oh...” Taylor said. “Hey Seth!” Said a lady in with short black hair and a long red shirt on and black Capri’s. “Hey Mel! Just giving these new folks a tour.” “And where did you find the spare time doing that?” Another girl said. This girl had white hair like Seth’s, Yet about the age of ten or eleven. She had a blue sailor dress that had Sailor’s Boat written on the pocket of it. “Well, Um… Right! Bye guys I have to go…See ya!”
